North Point Series
In the North Point Series I used personal photographs of North Point, an out cropping of 60-million-year-old Devonian Limestone in Wisconsin, as inspiration for color and form. I created these paintings using multiple layers of transparent wax. As I worked on this series, the water’s edge became a powerful metaphor for the journeys taken through life, and after the death of my father in 2015, a metaphor for the final journey into the unknown. Looking down at the ancient surface of the bedrock and the water of Lake Michigan, I contemplate both the past and the future.
