Introduction to Encaustic Materials and Demo by Jane Michalski

The Painter Jane Michalski will give a presentation describing basic materials and techniques used in encaustic. Encaustic is a versatile wax based medium known for its vibrant translucent color. Jane will discuss her work and demonstrate a few of the techniques that she uses. Handouts for material resources and contact information for artists who teach encaustic techniques will be provided.

Michalski has been creating art with encaustic for 20 years.  She has exhibited widely in the Midwest region including solo shows at the Union League Club of Chicago, South Shore Arts Crown Point Gallery, First Free Church of Chicago Sanctuary, the  Monroe Arts Center in Monroe, WI., and The Pump House Regional Arts Center in La Crosse, WI as well as numerous group shows. She is a past President and Treasurer of FUSEDChicago, which formerly was an affiliation of artists in the Chicago area who used the encaustic medium.
