Here is advance notice of my upcoming show in LaCrosse, WI at the Pump House Regional Arts Center. I am excited to be revisiting the theme of Enduring Earth. Enduring Earth, hopes to elicit in its audience a sense of wonder and promote the will to cherish the planet.
The show includes paintings from the main themes I have been exploring in my art: Bedrock Abstraction, Tectonic Shift and Rejuvenation the Forest Series. Bedrock Abstraction incorporates photographic ink jet prints and silk screen layers referencing bedrock from along the shores of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin. Tectonic Shift continues the use of the bedrock imagery and was conceived as a reaction to the rapid changes the earth and society are experiencing. Rejuvenation the Forest Series introduces forest imagery and color, acknowledging the need for seeking solace in nature to process our collective sense of loss during the pandemic.
All these themes share my interest in the basic structures of the earth and our connection to its history. This interest is made more poignant by my awareness of the risks to humanity if we fail to protect the planet.
The Opening Reception will be October 7th from 5-7 pm.
